Privacy
Short version: As a guest your progress stays in this browser only. With an account it is stored in the database. No email, no cookies, no adverts, no trackers.
Guest
- Nothing is sent to a server. Progress, XP, badges, statistics, review boxes, settings and study times stay in your browser's local storage (keys starting with `anemone.`).
- You can export or delete them on the Settings page; clearing your browser data does the same.
Account
- Only a username and a password are asked for; no email. Your password is turned into a key on your device and the password itself never reaches the server.
- The server (Cloudflare Workers and a D1 database) stores: your username, a verifier of the key derived on your device, your progress save (cards, questions, review boxes, XP, badges, settings, study times) and summary numbers.
- Profile fields (display name, age range and so on) are optional and private by default. No photos are uploaded. Joining leaderboards and having a profile is your choice.
- On the Account page you can download everything, or delete your account and all its records from the database, at any time.
- The name and free text of people under 18 are never shown publicly. Offensive names and texts are blocked and can be reported.
In every case
- The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics or adverts and loads no third-party scripts or fonts. Nothing personal is written into the static pages.
- If you use offline mode, lesson files are kept in your browser's cache.
- The site is served by GitHub Pages. As any web host does, GitHub may process technical data such as your IP address when you request a page, under GitHub's own privacy statement; we do not receive that data.
